Wedding Entertainment in the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon

Wedding Entertainment

Had a great time entertaining the guests of Natascha and Paddy in the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon in Co. Clare the other week. The hotel is lovely, and surprisingly secluded as it’s only a stone’s throw from the town. I took the coast road on the way down, picking up a couple of hitch-hikers in Oranmore (I actually look forward to seeing hitchhikers, they really break up the journey!) on their way to Ennis.

It was a pre-dinner stint, but I soon had the guests over what I call daylight shyness, (or lack of Dutch Courage!) and sure enough there was a queue at the end! If you’d like my brand of wedding entertainment on your special day drop me a line!

Marty Kelly in the Blueleaf Gallery

Painting by Marty Kelly If you’re in Dublin try and get to see Marty Kelly’s new show in the Blueleaf Gallery. Marty’s from Carndonagh in Inishowen, Co. Donegal and (all Donegal nepotism aside) is one of the most proficient and confident young painters to emerge in Ireland in the last twenty years in my opinion.

And they really liked his stuff on The View, but don’t let that put you off.

Cartoon from Macnas Book

Joyful Abandonment- Macnas 2007

Above is a cartoon I was commissioned to do for Macnas: Joyful Abandonment. Some people in Macnas may claim to recognise themselves in it. I have no comment to make!

The cartoon is a potted account of the processes that are never seen by the general public but are essential to the creation of the parade each year.

Judith, Helen, Rachel and others won’t be impressed at the absence of rehearsals in the above cartoon (or may not have noticed in which case I’ve just shot myself in the foot!). In my defence I submit the following:

I hadn’t enough space;

Rehearsal is so important it warrants its own cartoon.

The book is a must for fans of Macnas, theatre professionals and students, and those interested in the recent history of Galway. You can order the book from Amazon by clicking on its name above.

154 Caricatures- in two days!

senior-management-caricature.jpg

Monday and Tuesday last week saw me completing this caricature of the delegates at the APC-MGE conference in the Radisson Hotel, Galway. I then had to come up with 170 copies as presents for the delegates. And in the expected manifestation of Murphy’s Law, each time I saved it and emailed it to the printer it wouldn’t open. I eventually had to save it as a TIFF, put it on to my keydrive, cycle to the printer (and I actually beat the second email!) and thankfully that worked. Thanks to Siabh in Cantec for getting them printed off in time!
