Salthill Yesterday

One of the many caricatures I drew yesterday for the Salthill Community Arts Festival. Lovely sunny day it got too!

Paddy Brown has a great post up describing the lunacy of New Labour’s Independent Safeguarding Authority, which demonises anyone working in schools or with kids and assumes that everyone is a slavering paedophile unless they’re on the ISA’s list of approved (paying) people. Philip Pullman recently vowed never to visit schools again over it. You can read Paddy’s post here.

Another wedding, this time in the secluded confines of Kilkea. I did a lot of driving that day (and cussing too, truth be told- Kilkenny City has an aversion to decent road signage for some reason) but I arrived and met the wedding band as they were setting up. I thought I recognised the singer, and sure enough I did- having entertained his wedding guests in Sligo in January!

And another one from a few weeks ago in the Glencarn Hotel, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan. There’s a part of that journey coming up from Galway where you’re as well following the birds as the signposts. Still, with my unwaivering sense of direction, apart from the odd time when I get lost, I managed to get to yet another wedding and give a few laughs to aid the digestion.
