Cartoon by Annie West.

Great craic on Twitter the other night. There was a spontaneous eruption of Charlie Bird Facts after @naoisen suggested it. #Birdfacts topped the trendlist for Ireland for a couple of hours, and there were a few curious tweets coming in from around the world wondering what the hell it was all about.

I’ve listed most of the good ones below.

Honestly. The second coming of Christ would be missed if it happened the same day Steve Jobs was launching a product.

An Outbreak of Peace oratorio programme

oratario
My Christmas Truce cartoon was used in the programme for a new oratorio by Andrew Fowler in December, titled An Outbreak of Peace. Andrew sent me a copy this week, and seeing it framed I’m considering working it up into a larger painting during the year.
It was used by a choir in London too.

One of the magical things about having a site like this is how some of my cartoons catch on. When I was producing work on a weekly basis for the Connacht Tribune I’d refer to the content of Charlie’s article, try and incorporate a gag, and then forget about it. But a website is a gallery window through which the entire world peers, and my stuff has been used in presentations, programmes, magazine articles and posters around the globe.
Love it.

Wedding Entertainment in Gregans Castle Hotel, Co. Clare

I was in the delightful Gregans Castle in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare in December for a wedding. It’s a small venue, but very warm and cosy it’s got a gorgeous setting. Clare was in the middle of the flooding back then and it was a hairy drive at times, but I got there and had a great laugh with the guests.

Corporate Entertainment in Wicklow!

Here’s a couple of pics from a corporate Christmas party I was entertaining at in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Enniskerry in December. The company is an American trading firm based in Dublin, and I was very generous, giving all kinds of tips to my sitters- buy low sell high, gold is always a good investment, stay away from property at the moment, that sort of thing. Ever since I saw Trading Places I’ve had this incredible insight into how the markets work.
