This drawing was a framed caricature cartoon portrait for an engineer who was retiring from Bord Na Mona and was completed earlier this year.

It features the subject in the foreground in somewhat muddy attire due to the boggy location of his work! The subject of this caricature is surrounded by many items and references from his working life and his personal hobbies including his Bernese mountain dog sitting by his side. There’s a red Honda with a dead horse beside it, in front of Derrinlough Briquette factory. I’ve drawn a pond outside the factory with 2 ducks quacking “YOU’LL BE MISSED!” There’s a wind turbine with an attached Duracell AA battery as well as a beer making kit with a pig on a spit! Also vitally important was the appearance of Pete (geddit?) the old Bord na Móna mascot (I say old but he’s probably of a similar vintage to me… or younger!)
