GAA Themed Weddings

GAA themed weddings feature heavily in my many caricature commissions over the years. I’ve assembled some samples here from the archives to give you an idea of how adaptable my caricatures are.

This caricature of newlyweds was commissioned for a wedding and the couple really wanted a GAA flavour to their wedding signing board including referencing their respective teams. The couple here are drawn wearing their team colours. The bride is in the green and white of the Avondale Camogie jersey and the groom is in the black and amber of the Avoca Gaelic Football team.

This was a lot of fun to draw with the specifics of what the couple wanted in their signing board, including their two children! The bride and groom are holding The Liam MacCarthy Cup between them, with yellow and blue ribbons between them.

In this caricature the couple ar drawn in their respective wedding dresses and surrounded by many elements from their lives, including their jobs and interests. These range from gin to house painting, and include knitting, dog and cat pets, a guitar, suitcases representing travel, Gaelic footballs with their respective teams Meath and Mayo!

This caricature signing board featured a signpost with Kilfinny, Ennis, and Killaloe. There’s also their baby and their Cavalier King Charles and the groom his holding his beloved hurley!

This sports-themed caricature was for a wedding celebration in Dublin. The bride is wearing a Liverpool FC top, with her foot on a soccer ball, while the groom is wearing a Dublin GAA jersey and holding a hurl with a sliotar nearby!

This GAA-themed artwork was used for this fun couple’s wedding invitations, which went down a storm with their guests.

Here I’ve included references for a teacher and accountant who are both mad about GAA, as well as cycling, and their little dog in the basket of the bike!

I always find the GAA logo lovely to draw. There’s something about the flow of the logo that’s incredibly satisfying to draw. I think it’s a masterpiece of modern logo design and I really enjoy following its lines as I draw them into my GAA wedding caricatures.

Music and hurling were big factors in this wedding caricature!

This couple played many different sports as you can see!
