Broadhaven Bay Wedding Entertainment: I was back in the wilds of Mayo yesterday for a wedding in the wonderful Belmullet wedding venue of Broadhaven Bay! I had quite a slippy drive between Castlebar and Bangor Erris, (and unfortunately passed a few cars that clearly didn’t make one particular bad bend) but I got there safely and got myself set up in a corner of the drinks reception area outside the ballroom. One of my favourite set ups is when I’m away from music (all praise to the musicians, no offence intended!) and can chat to my sitters as I draw, and I had that situation yesterday, which just suited me down to the ground. I have a few zingers I like to slip into conversation (you pick a few things up in how to prime your audience when you’ve been doing this as long as I have!) and got some great laughs before I’d even revealed the drawings. I also frequently had a keen audience watching me draw, and that means praise for my drawing skills and usually some playful slagging for my sitters! It’s all in the name of fun though and the reactions I got yesterday were just fantastic.
