One of my first weddings back after lockdown was in Jack’s Old Cottage in Islandeady near Castlebar, a meticulously restored cottage museum in the heart of the Mayo countryside. After the long gap in live wedding caricatures due to lockdown I’m always anxious I’ll have forgotten how to do it but as you can see from the gallery below I think I’ve still got it! Each couple below took less than five minutes to draw. I suppose it’s like learning to ride a bike, once you can draw quick caricatures live you never forget! The cottage is open to the public and is free to visit and is worth stopping by if you’re in the area.
I’ve now done 9 weddings all over the country since the latest lockdown eased (although I’d normally have about 25 done by July) and I’ve got to say I’m loving being back on the road. Most of these so far have been couples forced to postpone from last year and I’m delighted they’re finally getting to have their big day. I’m starting to take a lot of new bookings for 2023 too.
I’m now fully vaccinated and I draw with a perspex screen where necessary. I wear a mask at all times I’m not drawing, and I have a certificate in Covid safety. I have a few dates left for 2021 so if you’re looking for live wedding caricatures for your wedding this year do get in touch to see if I’m available.
I’m Allan Cavanagh and I have been professionally producing caricatures and cartoon art for over 20 years.
