Wedding Caricatures Jack’s Old Cottage Mayo

One of my first weddings back after lockdown was in Jack’s Old Cottage in Islandeady near Castlebar, a meticulously restored cottage museum in the heart of the Mayo countryside. After the long gap in live wedding caricatures due to lockdown I’m always anxious I’ll have forgotten how to do it but as you can see from the gallery below I think I’ve still got it! Each couple below took less than five minutes to draw. I suppose it’s like learning to ride a bike, once you can draw quick caricatures live you never forget! The cottage is open to the public and is free to visit and is worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

Looks like engaged couples are back planning their weddings for next year and beyond judging by my enquiries! This is a wedding caricature for a Save The Date card this couple were sending out to their intended guests for their nuptials.

I supplied the artwork and they printed up the Save the Date cards themselves. They are pictured in their wedding attire in front of a simple bridal arch with a signpost in the background. There is a banner above them for the details of the wedding date. (Note: this is a compressed image for the website. The actual art you receive is 300dpi.) Great to see the wedding industry getting geared up for a big return once we reach the tipping point in vaccinations. I for one have greatly missed weddings and I can’t wait to get back on the road with my live wedding caricatures!

Brexit-Themed Wedding Invitation!

This caricature was for the invitations for a cross-border wedding last year, and the couple chose to have a fun take on the impending Brexit business! They’re standing on the border with the family farm and a blue New Holland tractor in the background. In the ground either side of the “border” are the county flags for Fermanagh and Leitrim. I’ve drawn the couple in the actual wedding attire they were planning for their big day, right down to the groom’s navy dickie-bow!
The Irish wedding industry will be hotting up again by the summer and already people are planning their weddings for 2022, 2023, and I’ve even had an enquiry for 2024! Wedding caricatures from a wedding last year in the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis. I did in fact have a handful of weddings last year and it was an absolute joy to be on the road again bringing a smile to the faces of wedding guests. One of my weddings from last year was in the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis and you can see a gallery of my live wedding caricatures on my site below. The reflection you see in some of them is my perspex shield which is now a part of my live wedding caricature set-up!

I’m now taking bookings for 2022/2023 by which time the wedding industry will be back in full swing. 2022 is absorbing some of the postponements from this year but many dates are still available so if you’re planning your wedding and you’re even mildly curious about having live caricatures to entertain your guests at your drinks reception please drop me a line!
