Redcastle Hotel Wedding Entertainment: I found myself just up the road from where I grew up at this wedding in Inishowen’s Redcastle Hotel. I’m from the other funny-coloured castle, Greencastle. An Caisleann Nua in Irish for some reason. Does this mean the Redcastle is older than the Greencastle? I don’t know. It never really came up when I was a kid.
A few guests recognised me despite me
(a) having left there in the early 90s
(b) gone bald
(c) grown a beard
(d) gone grey in that same beard
Sure you can go nowhere! Thankfully most of the guests were significantly younger than me so they’d no idea who I was other than the man making them laugh their heads off when I drew their caricatures during this wedding drinks reception! I had a queue out the door the whole time and got loads of caricatures drawn. Inishowen is a beautiful place and the Redcastle Hotel is sitting on a stunning seaside setting with amazing views of Lough Foyle and County Derry across the water. Donegal people are wile craic haigh and you can see some of that craic in the Redcastle Hotel Wedding photos below!
