Supernatural Cartoon: A Supernatural Christmas. Here’s another bonus cartoon for Christmas featuring Sam and Dean Winchester and their Angel friend Castiel on a Christmas morning some time around Season 6. If you’re a Supernatural fan I’m sure each of these gifts has occurred to you at some stage (or you’ve screamed them at the screen while you’re watching). I even saw the salt-filled Hula Hoop on a comment section somewhere recently (although I had this strip roughed out last year with the salt filled Hula Hoop!) But the biggest WTF in this beloved show is the Winchesters’ ability to speed-dig a grave site. I’m sure grave-diggers everywhere are upset by the unrealistic dead body standard. How much easier would the Winchester boys lives be if they were able to stick a mini excavator on a low loader trailer and hitch it on to the back of the Impala? I hope it has a tow bar. Anyway I’m finally on the last series after loving this show for TWENTY BLOODY YEARS so no spoilers.
Drawing Dean Winchester is… Hard.
Now I’m going to admit something: drawing Dean Winchester is hard. When I saw the Scooby-Doo episode Scoobynatural (I loved it, one of my all-time favourite episodes, I can’t believe what they were let get away with using those characters and settings) I was pretty unimpressed with Dean’s cartoon version. It just didn’t catch his likeness the way Sam’s version did. Turns out when drawing Dean it’s kinda hard to capture his likeness: at least that’s what me and my 16 different versions of the first panel found. I think he’s recognisable enough but had to just let him go in the end. He’s… too handsome? Sam/Jared Padalecki is also a good-looking guy but he has that pointy jaw, pronounced eyebrow ridge and that hair, but apart from the deep and long philtrum nothing really sticks out for Dean/Jensen Ackles! I probably would have had an easier time with Soldier Boy from The Boys thanks to the beard and longer hair, but this is a Supernatural cartoon! Misha Collins’ hang dog eyes and general dishevelment were conversely very easy to capture.
And yes, that final panel is based on:
