Funny Retirement Gifts Ireland: this caricature was a retirement present for the chap in the centre from his colleagues! This was a bit of an unusual request, as well as wanting a caricature of the retiring gentleman they also wanted to include some of his favourite figures from music, movies, and politics! Hopefully you’ll see a few familiar faces in there (I’ll go into a bit more detail below :D)
The whole gang are pictured outside Dublin restaurant Peploe’s, with the KPMG building in the background and a car loaded up with wine. So, in no particular order, the gang of iconic male figures from the 20th Century are: Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Bono, Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg, Michael Jordan and Bill Clinton. As of writing they’re all still with us! I don’t really do many celebrity caricatures unless it’s for a specific purpose like this (I’ve also drawn a caricature of The Rolling Stones with a fan, and I’ve drawn a caricature of David Bowie and Prince with a couple of fans!) so I was quite happy with how these turned out! I especially like Spielberg and McCartney, and Clinton was tricky as as he ages his features seem to get rounded and smooth, and his hair and eyebrows are white and lack contrast against his skin, but again I think I nailed him here! (The client thought so too!)
