Silver Tassie Hotel Wedding: another one from my Up Here It’s Different (if you know you know!) file is this selection of caricatures from a wedding in Donegal’s Silver Tassie Hotel (Ramelton Rd, Ballyboencurragh, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal phone 074 912 5619). A lovely bunch of guests on the day and many great big laughs were had as you can see from the gallery of Silver Tassie Wedding photos below! Sure you can hear the accent in the photos haigh!
I set up with my easel and banner and 3 chairs and for 2 hours I draw non-stop, averaging 3 minutes per couple. I often get an audience as I draw too so it really gets the room going! I draw using pencil for a rough outline in about 3 seconds, then finishing using brush tip Pitt pens in indian ink, and doing my shading in graphite. From time to time I’ll get a young budding artist hovering around my shoulder so I’ll make sure to answer any questions they may have, and I also make sure to tell mum and dad that yes, being an artist is a real job!
