German Long-haired Pointer Dog Portrait: Drawing Every Dog is a new feature I’ll be updating from time to time. This week it’s the turn of the German Longhaired Pointer, who’s next in the book after the English Setter. The photo for this one was absolutely terrible, merely showing the dog in silhouette, but I had a go anyway in the spirit of the project. I think this is going to come up again. The German Longhaired Pointer was developed in the 19th century from Spanish Pointers, Irish and Gordon Setters, small Newfoundlands, and French Spaniels. Above is a portrait of the German Long-haired Pointer breed, drawn in pencil and colouring pencil, on A5 220gsm Windsor & Newton smooth surface cartridge. All works are for sale! You can make an enquiry below.

In the previous post on the Bracco Italiano I explain the background to this project; in short the internet has been polluted beyond repair for finding good reference material so I’m going back to books, in this case the German Long-haired Pointer Dog Breed from The Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds by Juliette Cunliffe.
