Photographers banned from match, cartoonist captures winning goal!

From the BBC:

Plymouth Argyle’s winning goal against Southampton was captured by a cartoonist after the home side banned photographers from its grounds.

Artist Chris Robinson was hired by the Plymouth Herald newspaper to capture the League One side’s 1-0 win at St Mary’s stadium on Saturday.

The Southampton club restricted access to an official photographer meaning others were banned from attending.

Now if the Sunday Times would only lose that useless photoshopping and hire a cartoonist…

  1. I can see it proving popular with readers. You can add in movement lines and crowd commentary, something photos just fail to capture. And if it’s near the end of the match, stink lines.

  2. Was reading this earlier this morning and loved it. Can’t think why papers don’t do it anyway. TRying to remember if fanzines might have done it regularly.
