Caricature Artist for Weddings: here’s a selection of the caricatures I drew at a wedding in Bloomfield House Hotel last summer. It’s a lovely spot and at the height of summer the grounds have a big bird population judging by the sound of it! I’m back up that way a couple of times this year and very much looking forward to it. I had a lot of fun with these guests as you can probably see from the photos! Each caricature takes just 3 minutes so I get plenty of people done, and it’s also a great spectator sport. The photos don’t capture the laughter of those waiting behind me! The paper has the couple’s names and date of the wedding so my live caricatures for weddings make great mementos as well as being great entertainment!
This caricature was a 60th birthday gift. The subject here is a radio DJ for Spirit, Christmas FM, Charity and Real FM. I’ve drawn him at his desk with his headphones and mic, and his pet dog is under his arm! I’ve also included his Ooni pizza oven 🍕
Here’s a selection of live caricatures from a recent wedding drinks reception in the Glenlo Abbey Hotel. Did I mention I’m delighted to be back doing weddings? I’m delighted to be back doing weddings! Still some slots available for 2021 and I’m currently taking bookings for 2022 and 2023. If you’re planning your wedding and you’re looking for some unusual wedding entertainment anywhere in Ireland, why not drop me a line to check availability?
This personalised family caricature went all the way to the United States! It features the hobbies and interests of each of the family members and I worked from individual photos to create the combined portrait. Below you can see the framed piece before it set off the for States!
Happy Bloomsday! In late 2019 I was approached by Andrew Kelly of Wicklow Heather Restaurant and House in Wicklow about the use of my James Joyce caricature as part of the label design for their Bloomsday limited edition gin.
“About 10 years ago to the day we began collecting very rare books and memorabilia for our Writer’s Room which over time has turned into one of the largest collections of work of first edition Irish literature.
To celebrate the Writer’s Room we have distilled our own limited edition gin. The Gin’s name is “Bloomsday” which celebrates James Joyce in particular and his life.
When working on the label for the bottle I came across your caricature of Joyce for Bloomsday. I absolutely loved how quirky it was and instantly wanted to base our design around it.
We are producing a limited number of 200 bottles of the gin where the label will be prominent.”
It was so wonderful to be approached in this way and we worked out the details for the use of the James Joyce caricature. I think the resulting label looks great:
Anyone whose work is image-based will know how frequently other businesses will just use your work as a free stock image library so the Wicklow Heather Restaurant properly sourcing the image and working with the artist really meant a lot.
It really looks like an amazing venue and I hope to get up for a visit as things begin to normalise, and maybe even sample that gin!
