This Trump/Starmer/Sunak cartoon is from December before Trumpageddon was fully unleased on the world, even if we all knew what was coming. It was commissioned by Simon McGarr for his wry news roundup newsletter/website The Gist (subscribe if you haven’t already, it’s full of hilarious news takes with a vast legal knowledge behind it). Simon commissioned a number of Irish arty types to contribute a series of entertaining diversions for Christmas week, including my Cartoon Year in Review. Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting the cartoons here (I’ve already published the Porn Passport) but you can see them all in one go now by visiting The Gist post. I think these are some of the best cartoons I’ve ever done.
Regrettable Neighbour Events
A huge imposing Donald Trump about to sit his big horrendous arse on top of 10 Downing Street while a despondent Prime Minister Keir Starmer looks on with his moving box nearby, as the recently vanquished Rishi Sunak drags his Conservative Party suitcase away behind him.

Keir Starmer Caricature Cartoon

I was quite happy with the likeness I got here of Keir Starmer with just a few simple lines. It was my first time drawing him. I suppose it’s a good lesson in remembering to draw thumbnails first as a way to guide myself to good solutions for representing people in cartoons and caricatures!
Rishi Sunak Caricature Cartoon

This was my second outing on Rishi Sunak, a name that will soon pass into obscurity, only slightly better remembered than the Lettuce Woman for his ridiculous rain-sodden expensive-suit-destroying election call press conference outside Number 10 (Reality by Armando Iannucci: Rishi Sunak Speeching in the Rain)
