First Draft? First Ask.

I’m so sick of commercial websites hotlinking my stuff without permission, credit or a link back to this site that I’ve finally done something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I changed the hotlinked image. That’s what’s currently appearing on the First Draft website. I’m not going to give them a pingback to tip them off but you can copy and paste this into your browser:

It’s bad enough my work that I own copyright on is being used. It’s the height of cheek that my bandwidth that I pay for is being hijacked. If you want to use a cartoon, ask.

I’m going to leave that up until it’s noticed and then invoice them.

Thanks Anthony!

I’ve been having some issues with my header art since I put it up there. It was jumping around all over the place depending on browser and computer. I had a look at it in Safari on a MacBook and it was half way off the page, so I decided enough was enough. I contacted Anthony, the designer of the Darkwater theme this blog is based on, and he’d a fix for it by the following evening, for about the price of a fish supper.
Thanks Anthony.

10 Downing Street ripping off Wordpress theme developer

Anthony Baggett, the developer of my lovely Darkwater WP theme, has had one of his themes ripped off by none other than Gordon Brown, Prime Minister.
If you look at the bottom of my blog you’ll see a link to Anthony’s website. This is part of the Creative Commons 3.0 licence, which means that under the terms of use that link has to be there whether I modify the theme or not (I have as it happens). This attribution has been removed from the No 10 site.

Anthony’s been in touch with the developers, New Media Maze, but he says “it hasn’t gone well”.

EDIT 21/08/08: The developers have responded to the allegations here.

Galway Blogs

Two Galway-related blogs I’ve only just come across are the Moore Group’s and Julian Gough’s. They’ve both been around for a while by the looks of it but I only found the Moore Group’s one from a trackback on Damien’s, which led me to Julian’s. Both subscribed to now.
Have a read of the Moore Group’s excavations of Eyre Square and the centuries old skeletons they found there.

Also best of luck to Jazz Biscuit.

Phew!

I just upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 and it seems to have gone ok. If you’re running an earlier version you should update now because many blogs running earlier versions are getting hacked.

My host Blacknight has a nice server side installer called Installatron, which made backing up and installing very easy.

As for the decor: the new interface is gack.
