I need a hero, doo doo doo dooooooo….

This is one of the nicest emails I’ve ever received.

Hello! (:
I’m in year 9 and i’ doing an ArtsAward for school which is a nationally recognised qualification at three levels – Bronze, Silver and Gold, (I am doing bronze.) We get to choose something we want to become good at and I have chosen caricatures. It is required that we choose an ‘Arts Hero.’ Someone whos art you like and want to be able to draw like. Would you mind being my arts hero, all that you need to do is answer a few questions about your caricature arts, is that OK with you? I really love your caricature style and would love to learn how to draw like you.
Thankyou very much!

Got it today and walked around on little clouds for the rest of the day. I’m currently designing my superhero outfit. If I pad the chest and arms out it’s not cheating, it’s inspiring.

Cat Catching a Bird by Naoise

My son Naoise is learning all about WWII, Hitler and the Holocaust in school at the moment. Very impressed with the way it’s being taught. He came home today with his version of Picasso’s Cat Catching a Bird, so not only is he learning cold facts but he’s also being taught about allegory. You can’t beat the ol’ Educate Together ethos.
Here’s Pablo’s original:

I’m on the Blackboard in Puerto Rico

Got a lot of traffic from the University of Puerto Rico‘s Blackboard sytem for this post. I must have made someone’s lecture notes. Nice.

Quiet down the back.

Artwork for AIDS West Education Pack

This is the cover image for an education pack I have been working on with AIDS West which is due to be published shortly. It’s aimed at youth workers and contains a series of images to promote discussion among young people about issues such as drinking, drug-taking and risk-taking.
