Friday Cartoon: Green Party and the Irish General Election 2024

Irish Election Cartoon: this is another from the batch of cartoons I did for Simon McGarr over at theGist.ie in a cartoon roundup of the year of our lord 2024. It depicts Leo Varadkar, Simon Harris, Micheál Martin and others hiding behind Roderic O’Gorman as a disgruntled electorate stare at him over a ballot box labelled GE 2024. The Greens have successfully thrown themselves under the bus twice now and yet were surprised once again when Green voters were unhappy with them becoming FF/FG with a seasick malachite tinge around the face, and similarly surprised when their civil war mammies and daddies kicked them out of the optical coalition in time for the general election.

Extract from The Gist:

The year ended with an election where the Green Party was consumed by voter ire, after becoming the larger Government parties’ answer to many of their own voters complaints. No facial recognition done? The Greens made them stop. Climate action? The Greens made them do it. New number on your Dublin Bus? The Greens. Humiliatingly bad referendum results?…
