Recommended: Lego Treasure Hunt Galway City Museum

Galway City Museum has a treasure trial of Lego scenes from Galway’s history running at the moment. I was in on Saturday with Youngest and his friend and there was great excitement in taking part. Kids get a sheet with all the Lego scenes listed when you arrive at reception (Bearla agus Gaeilge) and a pencil, and then off they go to try to find them. Once they’ve found each set and marked it off on their sheets they get a certificate from the reception to say they’ve completed it again. I’d say we got a good hour out of it, some of the scenes are quite well hidden, (but not impossible to find!) so the kids really explore the whole museum, and of course get to see the permanent exhibits there as well (no accident I’m sure!) There was great satisfaction in getting to tick off each find, and then great accomplishment in receiving their Official Certificate of Lego-Finding! I thought the Lego sets were well thought out with clever use of existing Lego pieces (check out the thatch on the image above, and I liked the repurposed legs on the Lego Pádraic Ó Conaire statue!)
