Not looking forward to the Watchmen movie then?

Got my signed copy of Mister Amperduke by Bob Byrne in the post today. Thanks Bob. I’ve just read the first chapter, although I don’t think read is quite the right word. There is no narrative text in the whole book. Bob has diligently stuck to using a graphic lexicon, which means it’ll travel well! I think digesting might be a better description of how you experience this book, and from the outset its level of detail is arresting. This is a graphic novel that appears to have been shot on paper, rather than drawn, and the trailer above really underscores its cinematic quality.
You can order Mister Amperduke directly from Bob’s website, and you’ll also receive an original panel from the book.
I met David Lloyd, co-creator of V for Vendetta, in Roisin Dubhs last Thursday night. He was giving a talk on his career and promoting his new graphic novel Kickback
. It’s been out since last year but Darkhorse dropped the ball on promoting it. Lloyd’s profile was at its height as the V for Vendetta movie was released around the same time as Kickback but for some reason Darkhorse failed to take advantage of this, leaving Lloyd to go on the road to promote the book himself.
Sub-City are planning a series of talks by artists and writers in the New Year. Keep reading and I’ll keep you up to date on these future events. Also thanks to Seamus from Sub-City for letting me in sans ticket!
