This personalised head and shoulders caricature was a gift for the subject from his friends. He’s surrounded by objects relevant to his life including pet dogs, swimming googles, a bike pump, suitcase for travel, a cook book, and a pint of Guinness (remember those?). Also making a cameo is his wife in the background! He’s saying some of his well-known catchphrases.

Consultant Caricature Gift!
This caricature was a birthday gift for an A&E consultant in Kerry’s University Hospital from his team. Many of the team were also leaving around the same time so it was partially a going away present too! It features an old style defibrillator and references his wearing of colourful socks, his love of swimming, and I’ve depicted a recent injury! He’s always in high demand in his department so I symbolised this with several arrows “pulling” him in different directions. The customer was good enough to send me a photo of the consultant with his team after the presentation of the caricature and they all look pretty happy with it!

50th Birthday Gift Caricature
This personalised caricature was a gift for a 50th birthday last year. The subject is a Disney fan and loves travel, hence the Minnie Mouse ears and Eiffel Tower and the cruise ship in the background. She’s partial to a cocktail and also meticulous about cleaning, so the mop and apron was an in-joke from her family! Other references are Facebook with a signpost for Limerick and Dublin in the background. And of course a few balloons to mark the big day for good measure!
The Turfcutter!
This caricature brought back childhood memories of being in the bog (or the hill as we say in Donegal)! It features the subject in a Kerry GAA jersey with his Ford tractor in the background behind a HAPE of turf! I’m old enough to remember spade-dug turf, trying to catch clouds as they drifted in over us (and realising they weren’t the cotton wool substance I thought they were) and drinking sweet tea from vacuum flasks. My back remembers the days spent footing them. Drawing this was very evocative of those memories (probably some of my earliest).
Homebrew and Books!
This caricature was a gift for the couple pictured. He is wearing a Donegal GAA jersey and holding a pint of Guinness, she’s pictured with books 📚 (including Roald Dahl’s Matilda) and she’s having a glass of wine! 🍷 He’s got his laptop 💻 and phone and she’s got a mortarboard on as she’s a teacher! 👩🏫 In the background is a barrel of home brew about to explo- sitting there brewing. In the background are signposts for Longford, Inver, Carrick-on-Shannon and Galway and the couple’s car 🚗 is pictured too.
