Caricature Artist Ireland: Order Caricatures Online with Allan Cavanagh

Movie Review: Grabbers

02/04/202301/05/2019 by Allan

From its elegantly epic opening to its thrilling close, Grabbers serves up confident storytelling, a great gallery of characters, a jester’s arsenal of slapstick, and some killer one-liners.

Groomsmen Gift Ideas: this caricature of the groom and his two groomsmen was a gift from the bride! The three gentlemen are pictured in a digger, lorry and with a couple of lambs, reflecting their jobs. They’re also in their GAA colours! Great fun drawing it, and my caricatures are a unique gift for groomsmen or indeed bridesmaids! Caricatures make great groomsmen gifts they will actually use, hanging in their homes as a cherished memory of the big day! These caricatures were individually printed on high quality art paper so each one got their own identical copy.

How to draw the prime minister as a cartoon – BBC News

26/04/2019 by Allan

I’ve had a few goes at cartooning Theresa May myself. This is a nice wee video from the BBC about what goes into caricaturing a politician and how the caricature evolves and takes on an aspect of its own.

Dave Brown has been poking fun at politicians for the past 30 years. [He says] Theresa May “pulls a lot of expressions” which makes her easier to sketch.

I remember Steve Bell talking about the evolving likeness of David Cameron in a similar sense on the Guardian a few years ago (remember David Cameron?!)

[SEE BELOW FOR AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE MASK’S ORIGIN! 05/11/2020] One of my favourite comic strips as a child was Eagle’s Doomlord.
